Winning Streaks Snapped As Oakland Beats The Sox 6-2
“You can cancel the post game show” as Hawk Harrelson likes to say as the White Sox lose to the Oakland Athletics 6-2 to snap their 5 game winning streak as well as their 12 game home winning streak. (more…)
Edwin Jackson Is The White Sox Only Prize
Amidst all the speculations, barring any trade that hasn’t gone through the union yet so it can’t be announced, the White Sox have made no moves right before the deadline.
While the names of players like Adam Dunn, Prince Fielder, Brad Hawpe, Manny Ramirez, Brett Myers, Lance Berkman, Jose Bautista, Adam LaRoche, and I’m sure more that were never openly mentioned, the White Sox failed to acquire any of them.
So this means that as of now, the top prize (and only prize) for the White Sox is Edwin Jackson.

To some this may not be that big of a deal and could be considered a downgrade from Daniel Hudson but that isn’t the case. (more…)
No Manny For The White Sox
USA Today’s Bob Nightengale has tweeted that the White Sox have not heard any counter offers from the Dodgers on outfielder Manny Ramirez and that they are moving on.

Berkman Says No To The White Sox
Well looks like Lance Berkman won’t be a member of the White Sox.
According to sources, a deal was in place sometime today where Berkman would have gone to the White Sox but decided to use his no trade clause and say no to the White Sox.
This is another set back for the White Sox in their search for another hitter to drive in runs as it was rumored earlier that internally they believeĀ they are not going to get Adam Dunn. With Adam Dunn essentially out of the question and their back up choice Berkman saying no as well things are starting to look bad on the trade front.
Now it’s just a waiting game to see who gets the services of Adam Dunn and then the White Sox will furiously start their attack on Adam LaRoche, who is expected to get a lot of attention once Dunn is taken off the board.
White Sox Are Done Chasing Dunn, Looking To Add Another Pitcher Or Hitter
Well White Sox fans, it’s becoming safe to say that we will not see Adam Dunn on the South Side (thank God). According to ESPN’s Buster Olney, the White Sox are saying internally that they are out of the running for Adam Dunn. With the trade for Edwin Jackson today and all the other players they are looking at right now, it’s a safe bet that this is true and we won’t have to worry about giving up top prospects for a rental player.
Despite acquiring Edwin Jackson from the Diamondbacks, the White Sox are apparently looking into a potential deal for the Astros’ Brett Myers. While Myers has been said to be mostly unavailable, GM Kenny Williams has been aggressively trying to put a deal in place but that it’s still not very likely he’s coming to the South Side.
While talking to Ed Wade about Myers, it is believe Williams is also trying to put a deal in place for Lance Berkman. This is a trade that I believe should happen as it seems to be the best fit for the White Sox right now, especially with Berkman being a switch hitter but nothing is in place as of yet.
The White Sox are also looking into the Rockies’ Brad Hawpe as a possible bat to bring in. He’s had a rough injury plagued season this year but hit his 7th homer yesterday and seems to be on the rebound. He’d be a nice addition to the White Sox and wouldn’t cost anywhere near the amount that Dunn would have cost them.
Besides those big names being thrown about, it’s been said that the White Sox had scouts in Toronto to watch the Blue Jays, as a trade with them may be in order. The most likely candidate there would be Jose Bautista but anything is possible at this point.
Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times tweeted earlier today that GM Kenny Williams has something big cooking and that is it goes through then the Jackson trade would be off. With the trade going through it’s hard to tell if whatever Williams was working on fell through or that he is about to pull off the blockbuster move of the season. As we all know with Alex Rios claimed off waivers last year, Kenny is not opposed to making a lot of noise this time of year so we all need to watch out.
The one plus side to this search for another hitter is that the White Sox can look at anyone. They don’t need to have a left handed hitter, a righty would be absolutely fine as long as he drove in runs like they need him to. So there are so many options out there that it would take days to report on all the players that could potentially come to the South Side.
Noise has already been made with the trade for Edwin Jackson and it looks like there is more on the horizon. We’re in for a wild ride for the next 26 hours or so White Sox fans, but as Hawk likes to say, “Sit back, relax, and strap it down.”, you gotta love this time of year.
White Sox May Just Forget About Adam Dunn And Keep Edwin Jackson For Themselves
FOX Sports Ken Rosenthal tweeted earlier today that the White Sox are in “serious discussions” for current Arizona Diamondbacks’ pitcher Edwin Jackson.

While Jackson has been a part of the proposed three way trade between the Diamondbacks, White Sox, and Washington Nationals where the Nationals would get Jackson’s services, the White Sox would get Adam Dunn, and the Nationals would get Daniel Hudson along with a bunch of prospects, the White Sox are becoming more interested in acquiring Jackson and keeping him instead of flipping him to the Nationals for Dunn.
This all comes about as the White Sox believe that a deal for Dunn is becoming less and less likely due to the outrageously high asking price. As with the proposed three way trade and the terms that have been stated for any trade involving Dunn, Daniel Hudson is believed to be a key piece in any potential trade. It’s also been reported that it’s likely Brent Morel will be a piece in any potential trade as well.
White Sox Deal Daniel Hudson And A Prospect For The D-Backs’ Edwin Jackson
Well looks like Daniel Hudson won’t get a chance to pitch his last game in a White Sox uniform tonight as he has been traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks, along with prospect David Holmberg for pitcher Edwin Jackson. This kind of comes as a shock since it’s been reported that any deals the White Sox may have been interested in had to include Jordan Danks, Brent Morel, or Tyler Flowers.
This season Jackson is 6-10 with a 5.15 ERA but has also pitched a no hitter this season so his stats don’t fully show the skills he possesses.
It’s still unclear as to whether the White Sox are going to keep Jackson for themselves or deal him to the Nationals for Adam Dunn.
It’s my guess that Jackson will likely stay with the White Sox and they will attempt to acquire another hitter aside from Adam Dunn. With Hudson having to be guaranteed in the deal to the Nationals and them trading him for another pitcher the Nationals were supposed to acquire in Edwin Jackson, it looks like both the concepts of a three way trade with the Diamondbacks, Nationals, and White Sox and a deal between just the White Sox and Nationals are pretty much dead.
Welcome to the South Side Edwin Jackson, you’re finally out of the mediocrity of Arizona and you got a chance to prove yourself to a much larger audience on a much larger stage. Let’s just hope your stay is longer than a couple days.

Lance Berkman May Be Coming To The White Sox
I posted just a few minutes ago a story saying the White Sox are looking in acquiring Lance Berkman from the Houston Astros. It looks like the Astros are preparing for him to leaving in making another trade of their own.
As a part of the trade with the Phillies, the Astros apparently made a trade with the Blue Jays giving them center fielder Anthony Gose in exchange for major league ready first baseman Brett Wallace.
Brett Wallace was apparently ready to take over the job at first from Lyle Overbay in Toronto either at some point this season or beginning next year so he could be called up by Houston at any time.
This news brings about the idea that the Astros may be giving themselves an option at first if/when they trade Lance Berkman.
Does this mean that he is for sure going to Chicago? No it doesn’t but if I were a betting man, I’d have to put my money on Berkman coming to the South Side.

Things are starting to heat up in regards to Berkman. Does this mean one of the killer B’s the White Sox dreaded back in 05′ is finally going to be a member of the White Sox? After years of speculation that he was going to come to the South Side, I’m hoping that this time he actually does.
